"Knowing When to Stop: The Key to True Success"

There is no guarantee that every effort in life will succeed. No matter how hard you try, sometimes knowing when to stop is crucial.

For instance, the world's most valuable company, Apple, started working on a smart car project in 2014. The project involved 2,000 employees and an investment of $10 billion. However, after 10 years, in 2024, Apple decided to shut down the project.

Interestingly, there was no financial issue for Apple to continue this project. In 2023, their free cash flow was over $73 billion. They could have continued the project for another 70 years if they wanted to. But they realized the project was not on the right track, and investing more money and time would only be a sign of pride and foolishness. So, the world’s biggest company bravely accepted failure and shut down the project.

This event teaches us the most important lesson in life – knowing when to stop.

There are many people around us who fail to learn this lesson. Some sell their land, others mortgage their jewelry, and some even invest their children's school fees in business. Recently, I heard about an elderly person who spent his entire career in government service. After retirement, he invested his savings in a building business. But now his savings are exhausted, and he is asking people for money.

This is a very sad situation. On one hand, his age, and on the other hand, his physical ability, make it utterly impractical to engage in such a tough task as building construction. Moreover, he may have invested without a proper plan.

Knowing when to stop is as much an art as knowing how to move forward in any endeavor. Mastering this art is the key to success.
