Chainis woman was discovered to have both male and female reproductive organs

In southwestern China, a 59-year-old woman named Liu was discovered to have both male and female reproductive organs. Liu has two sons. Initially, she married a man and had her first child with him. Later, she married a woman, and from that marriage, Liu had another son. Thus, to one child, she plays the role of "mother," and to the other, she plays the role of "father."

Liu was born in China's Bishan province. From a young age, her behavior was different from that of other girls. Though she was a woman, she wore boys' clothes and kept her hair short like a boy. Many people mistook her for a boy. At the age of 18, Liu married a man named Tang, and within a year, they had a son. Shortly after that, changes began happening to Liu's body. Her androgen hormone levels increased, causing facial hair to grow, her breasts shrank, and male genitalia began to appear. After this, Liu and Tang divorced, and Liu left her son with Tang to live a life as a man in another province.

In her new location, Liu fell in love with a woman named Zhou. Despite knowing about Liu's physical condition, Zhou agreed to marry her. According to Liu's official identification, she was listed as a woman, and same-sex marriage was prohibited in China. So, they couldn't marry legally. Liu then asked for Tang's help. She proposed to him that he marry Zhou, and in return, she would take full financial responsibility for their son. Under this condition, Zhou and Tang married, and Liu and Zhou began living together. Several years later, Zhou became pregnant, and they had a son. One of their children calls Liu "mother," while the other calls her "father."
