A company was conducting an interview. The boss, looking at the resume of the woman sitting across the table, asked,
“How much salary are you expecting for this job?”
The woman confidently replied,
“At least 90,000 rupees.”
The boss then asked,
“Do you have any interest in games?”
The woman answered,
“Yes, I love playing chess.”
The boss smiled and said,
“Chess is a very interesting game. Tell me, which piece is your favorite?”
The woman smiled and replied,
“The queen.”
The boss asked,
“Why? I think the knight’s moves are the most unique.”
The woman said seriously,
“Yes, the knight’s moves are unique, but the queen possesses all the qualities. She can move diagonally, go straight, and even act as the king’s shield when necessary.”
Impressed, the boss asked,
“Then how do you see the king?”
The woman replied,
“In chess, I find the king to be the weakest. He can take only one step to protect himself, while the queen protects him from all directions.”
The boss, intrigued, asked,
“So, which chess piece would you compare yourself to?”
Without hesitation, the woman said,
“The king.”
The boss, somewhat surprised, said,
“But you just said the king is weak. Then why would you compare yourself to him?”
The woman smiled lightly and replied,
“Because I am a king, and my queen was my husband. He always protected me. But now he is no longer with us.”
The boss was stunned. He slowly asked,
“Then why do you want this job?”
With tears in the corner of her eyes, the woman said,
“Because after losing my queen, I now have to become the queen myself to protect my children and my family.”
A profound silence filled the room. The boss clapped and said,
“You are a brave woman. Best wishes to you.”
